Indoneasia tries to close deals unofficially with Brazil and Germany.

by Lara Novais
Indonesia has in the past few hours, during the ongoing debate, been forming deals with Brazil and Germany. These deals, confirmed by the Indonesian delegates themselves, were made to help insure food security in the archipelago, home to the fourth largest population in the world.
Even though this country is such a great consumer of agricultural products only about one fifth of the territory is viable for crop production, meaning that the importation of foodstuffs is a priority. The deal made with Brazil was regarding the importation of meat at a lower price in exchange for the exportation of coal at advantageous rates. While the deal with Germany focused on natural disasters and possible technological support from Germany in case of loss of crops due to earthquakes and potential tsunamis.
The UN moderators have just announced that the deals made informally must now go through them for validation, meaning that the agreements made might just be cancelled or will become an official position recognized by the United Nations.
